The movie Limitless with Bradley Cooper shows how a magic little pill can make you very intelligent and productive. While there isn’t a drug called NZT in real life, there are things you can do to give yourself that edge you need. Let’s take a look at how to be a more productive student.

1. Eat a lot of lean protein – especially for breakfast

People just don’t realize how important a good breakfast is. And we’re not talking about coffee and a doughnut. Breakfast should be considered your most important meal. The perfect breakfast includes fresh fruit and 6-10 egg whites with a little cheese topped off with some salsa. Add in a piece of whole wheat toast, a glass of water and some coffee.

2. Take vitamins

Most people are deficient in vitamins and minerals. That means you need to supplement with a multivitamin, 500-1,000 mg of vitamin C, and some fish oil/omega-3. The fish oil is very important to take, especially if you are a student. Experts say about 85% of the population does not get enough omega-3 because we simply do not eat enough seafood. Fish oil is inexpensive and will help you feel great. Not only is it good for your body, but it has been proven to help people focus and concentrate better.

Vitamin C is important to take as well. It will help boost your immune system, keeping you healthy. The RDA for vitamin C is only 80mg. That is an antiquated number that is far too small according to most health experts. They recommend you take 500 – 1,000 mg per day.

3. Get rest

Americans seem to think of sleep as a luxury. In fact, about 80% of Americans do not get enough sleep. The amount required according to sleep experts is 7.5-8.5 hours per night. Most American adults get about 6-7 hours. Sleep deprivation over time will seriously affect your mental and physical abilities to perform.

4. Have fun

It’s easy to get stuck in the grind of school, work, and kids. You need to let your hair down once in awhile and have some fun. We all need to have some fun now and again. It’s up to you to decide what you want to do, but make it a point to do something that brings you enjoyment. You’ll feel mentally refreshed and ready to hit the ground running again. Life’s too short to be so serious all of the time.

5. Exercise

Exercise will help you mentally and physically. It helps relieve stress and will help you feel better about yourself. Make sure to get about 30-45 minutes 3-5 times per week. If you’re looking to snap about of a rut – exercise is the best way to do it.
